ECOWAS playing into the hands of Cold War factions: The Revolution in Niger; A Prelude to World War III

At least, West African leaders at ECOWAS have intimated a military intervention in Niger would be the last resort following the initiation of diplomatic talks with General Tchiani and his men. ECOWAS seek to secure the release of ousted president, Mohammed Bazoum, and a potential … Continue reading ECOWAS playing into the hands of Cold War factions: The Revolution in Niger; A Prelude to World War III

Love Story: When One Man Pushed Shaaratu Away; Another Man Sings to Lure Her Back

You don’t need to be a fan of Dagban music to know of one of dagomba classics hiplife ‘Shaaratu’ sang by the legendary duo, Abada.

And If anyone doesn’t remember the entire song, it’s chorus which had the iconic lines 🎼🎶 Shaaratu bye bye yooo, N yuri Shaaratu changla kumahi n zang bal ankara, Shaaratu bye bye yoo 🎶 can never be forgotten.

Whiles Abada never really got to show the love the had for Shaaratu as she ran to Accra, this man tasted all the love he ever imagined from a woman.

The love story is encapsulated in yet another promising song. This time by title ‘Mpagkuro’ from Fresh Dee featuring Femi.

If you know Abada’s song the the unique female vocals on it is surely something to savor, just like what Femi brings on this new song.

Finally, whiles both songs sing about Shaaratu, it’s good to know that whiles Abada echoed Dagban music’s place with hiplife, Mpagkuro seeks to do so with a blend of Afrobeats and Amapiano.

Let us know if you can connect the messages to Shaaratu in both songs. But most importantly, enjoy some good music.

Prof. Frimpong Boateng’s Deepening Woes; Why Ghana’s Best Brains Avoid Politics

When his report on the works of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining was leaked, many, whiles apparently not entirely shocked by its reputation-damaging content, would have in no way not expected a pushback from the powers that be. But to this degree? It looks … Continue reading Prof. Frimpong Boateng’s Deepening Woes; Why Ghana’s Best Brains Avoid Politics

AGYIN ASARE VS NOGOKPO: WHEN MEN PIT DEITIES AGAINST EACH OTHER

Archbishop Charles Agyin Asare in fits of evangelical spiritualism, and what can fairly be described as a slip of the tongue, labels the town of Nogokpo as the demonic headquarters of Ghana.

The comments of the revered Reverend and Founder of the Perez Chapel, who is popular and acclaimed for his astounding and proof-piercing ministry, obviously, did not sit right with the Traditional Authorities of Nogokpo.

There was palpable tension within the town in the early hours of the now ‘infamous’ comments of the pastor, such that it necessitated a reaction. Whiles afforded a fourteen-day ultimatum, the people of the ‘town of justice’ summoned Archbishop Agyin Asare to ‘answer a few questions’ and ‘do the needful’. The ‘needful’ here could be to apologize but when spirits are concerned, who knows what else could suffice?

In what appears to be a counter-action to the ‘devil’s’ summon, the ministry of Perez Chapel announced a seven-week fasting for its members. It is said that in the world of the spirit, fasting is equivalent to a weapon of probable and mass destruction. So the church took the route.

In simple summary of these issues, the people and leaders of Nogokpo accuse Archbishop Agyin Asare of taking advantage of a wrong perception of the deity of the land to bolster his reputation as a powerful evangelist of the Christian God. They say he is ‘’powerless’’, but more importantly, they demand an apology and for him to do the ‘needful’

What this discussion seeks to discuss is that, yet again, men have resorted to pitting deities against each other. It has become imperative to ask whether what they say and do are direct representations of the deities they serve.

None of us, the lay, have heard the deities speak. And even more, wouldn’t it be amusing that deities renowned and glorified for being graceful, merciful, forgiving, and loving, would instigate needless rancor among the men who serve them? It is important that our society and especially the guardians of the spiritual realms be circumspect in transmitting the wills of their deities. They know the wrath it incurs.

The desire to mount the podium of religious supremacy has been the cause of countless wars and the loss of unquantified human lives, throughout history. Maybe, that is why the ever-dormant National Peace Council has asked for calm nerves and has taken a step to prevent any further escalations.

The deities are tolerant and peaceful. Those who serve them can be tolerant and peaceful as well. After all, it is them that die.

Trotro Wars

Trotro wars start with the words

‘Mate ade3n’
The back and forth goes on
Between the protagonists
And the antagonist

The former fuming and puffing
He thinks he has been short changed
The latter holds a bunch of papers
And says
‘’See this is from GPRTU
Fuel prices just changed
Upwards again!’’

Piercing words swirl up the bouncing Sprinter with deliciously lined interior
And bony seats.
The spectators hmms begin to form a hymn

‘’It is the Government !!!”
‘’No, it is us Ghanaians
We are the ones doing ourselves’’
‘’Massa stop that nonsense’’, another retorts

So we sit
Stuck in the Lapaz traffic
Soaking sweats and flying salivas
The scuffle suffices
And grows, no middle ground.

Why are you making noise?
Didn’t you hear what he said
“Sika mpe dede”
Money doesn’t like noise
So shhh ..
Let’s all ride the tides
The hmms are okay.
Victims need not fight each other!

OJAH’s ALBUM: A Tale of Weed, Love for the Streets, and Bar of Music Excellence.

The past six months has witnessed a lot of controversies in the Tamale music industry. Bemoaning the regression in quality and reputation of music brewed in the capital of the Northern Region, a lot of followers have lost interest and taken the quick turn back to consuming music from far beyond our borders.

Among the ever growing controversies, one man continued preaching to his fans and northern music followers about an impending project.

The Billionare Mindset is rather an unusual name for a music album. But just like the personality of its mastermind, the album has turned out to be a refreshing sight to behold for music lovers and a sound to cherish for a long time to come.

What is particular about this album?

The Billionaires Mindset is a replica of the genius-laden masterful productions executed by the renowned American producer, DJ Khaleed.

With an array of beaming talents, the album easily boasts of high level excellence in lyrics, vocals, and style. Featuring old guns such as Ataaka, Maccasio, Fawal, and Optional King with a blend of dynamism from buzzing songsters such as Ruff Guy, Burner Razzy, Alfa Vibe, and Shishi, the album is a complete replica of an executed music vision, or what is usually known as masterful music production.

The album has a potential of a classic. It is sound classic. It is a music classic. The BMS album carries along the talent of these artists a meticulous display of sound engineering, beat making, and music mastering supported by the legendary PeeJay.

What makes the album interesting?

It’s vibe is for the streets. Who would have thought that superb, relatable, and succinct inspiration can be drawn from a marijuana faithful such as OJAH! But no one is surprised.

The album is not about weed. The album is a teacher for students of the street and for that matter, students of life. It is a sad heaven for everyone looking for a sound they can relate to, whether high or sober. And that is the charm of the BMS album. An album for the streets, made of weed, and an inspiration for all.. just like how music should be.

A Trotro Poem

Trotros are everything
They are our libraries
We wake up early
So we can sleep in them
On our way to work.
They are our bedrooms.

Trotros are our social centers
We discuss marriages
and football matches
We sell and buy everything
Do you want a treatment
for koooo or just manpower?

Trotros are family
When pay day comes
They take the first share
The first item on the budget.
Who looks elsewhere for God
When you can find Him there!

So when you increase fuel prices
You are not just taking our money
You’re causing family problems
And even much more
You’re taking our everything.
