National Service Allowances : Founder of the Movement for Youth Development Reiterates Calls

The Founder of the Movement for Youth Development, a youth group based in Tamale, Mr. Harruna Lansah has joined calls for the government to increase the monthly allowances of service personnels across the country.

A new batch of service personnels have been deployed to offer services to the state after completion of their tertiary programmes. Two months after postings were released a lot of service personnels have expressed frustration over the delay in payment of their allowances.

However, a more pressing issue that remains dear to all service personnels across the country, is the silent groans for an increment in their monthly allowances from the current Ghc 559.00.

Mr. Harruna in his show dubbed the Matters of the Youth Show on a Tamale based radio station, Fiila Fm, recounted his encounter with colleague service personnels who expressed concerns over the current amount of their service allowances.

Following such concerns raised, Mr. Harruna who doubles as the Founder of the Movement for Youth Development used his platform to echo the concerns of his colleagues.

He expressed that ” the current allowance does not offer much for service personnels to improve on their individual welfare.. hence the government needs to pay attention to the plea of its service personnels”.

He mentions that issues of transportation and accommodation has remained a bottleneck and major expenses for service personnels leaving them with nothing for their own welfare.

Mr. Harruna Lansah met his colleagues at their offices as part of his campaign for NASPA President within the Tamale Metropolitan Area. He maintains that even though his plans for the NASPA community within the area are special, the cry for increase in service allowances remains a dilemma for all service personnels nationwide.
